Bring the Great British Spring Clean to your neighbourhood

Residents have the opportunity to help to make their neighbourhoods cleaner and greener this weekend by getting involved in the Great British Spring Clean.

Organised by Keep Britain Tidy, the Great British Spring Clean is a national event which takes place 3-5 March 2017. The campaign aims to bring communities all over the country together to give their neighbourhoods a really good spring clean, by clearing litter and rubbish from public paths and spaces.

Croydon Council is supporting the event as part of its own Don’t Mess With Croydon (DMWC) campaign, which has seen more than 300 residents volunteer to become Community Champions and organise local clean-ups in their area.

Residents can register for the event at www.greatbritishspringclean.org.uk.  Croydon Council can support clean-ups by providing any equipment that is required such as bin bags, gloves and litter picks – contact champions@croydon.gov.uk.

“As a result of our extremely successful Don’t Mess With Croydon campaign, Croydon already has a fantastic network of community champions who organise regular clean-ups in their areas and many, many more residents who get involved in helping to keep their neighbourhoods tidy. The Big Spring Clean is a really special event as it brings people together all over the country, on the same date, to be part of something positive and celebrate their pride in their own neighbourhoods.”
