Connecting Kenley awarded £878k from Good Growth Fund

A project that will see Kenley benefit from improved public areas, refreshed community spaces and support for local businesses has been awarded more than £878k in funding from the Greater London Authority.

Connecting Kenley has been awarded £878,776 from the Mayor of London’s Good Growth Fund, it was announced yesterday.

Made up of eight projects, the programme will provide improvements to public and community spaces, sustainable transport and support to local businesses, to bring together different parts of the community and enable good growth in Kenley.

The projects are included as part of the draft Kenley Community Plan, which the public can currently feed back on. It has also led to the establishment of the Kenley Community Steering Group, which is meeting for the first time this month and will guide the prioritisation of the projects.

Match-funding from the council and project partners will create a total combined budget of close to £2m for the three-year plan.

“The funding from the Mayor of London is brilliant news for Kenley and its community. The money, combined with the match-funding, will help deliver the projects included in the Kenley Community Plan which residents have told us were their areas of priority.

“We are currently seeking feedback on the draft plan for Kenley ahead of publishing the final version, and I’d encourage the public, especially those living, working or frequently visiting the area to share their views.”

Councillor Paul Scott, cabinet member for environment, transport and regeneration
