Find your best route to good health and wellbeing

Croydon Council has launched a new tool on its health website where residents can now easily find hundreds of free and low cost exercise classes and activities to keep fit and well for longer.

People can search for a range of activities taking place across the borough like football, belly dancing, bowling, walking, trampolining, swimming and more using the physical activity finder tool at www.JustBeCroydon.org/be-active

The council’s Live Well and Active Lifestyles teams are working with local physical activity providers to enable people to find suitable activities for all ages and abilities at a time that suits them.

Being active throughout the year can help people to maintain a healthy weight, as well as boost self-esteem and mental health and wellbeing. It also helps to fight off disease and reduce the risk of serious illnesses.

Croydon resident Christine is achieving her weight loss goal by increasing her exercise routine following advice from Croydon Live Well advisor Lynda. “I am grateful for the Live Well advisor’s support, which gave me the motivation I needed. I am riding my scooter more and will soon start swimming again. I have also started rambling every other Sunday with my cousin, who is also inspiring me. I am pleased to have lost 3.5 pounds in weight so far.”

Anyone who runs physical activity sessions or exercise classes can also upload the details on the physical activity finder for free. Details on how to add information can be found on the JustBe Croydon website.

“The council is investing in services and community facilities that support residents to better look after their health and wellbeing and address health problems associated with being overweight or obese. The physical activity finder offers a one-stop-shop for exercise classes, sports and many other activities around Croydon. We also hope it will entice people to try something new and explore our wonderful borough.”
