Croydon companies large and small wanting a post-Brexit business boost can still sign up for an economic conference this month.
Up to 300 people are expected at Fairfield Halls on the morning of 27 February for the Croydon Open for Business Summit, where representatives including small and medium-sized enterprises, international companies, the Greater London Authority, business groups and Government departments will discuss how Croydon firms can grow and keep their staff during and after the Brexit transition phase.
The event will range from speeches to panel debates, 1-2-1 business advice clinics and networking. Debate panellists include Gatwick Airport, London Chamber of Commerce and London South Bank University.
Event delegates who are European Union citizens will also be able to get support from the council’s registrar service on applying for a permanent right to remain in the country via the European Settlement Scheme.
Prominent names already on the guest list include Amazon, the Department for International Trade, the Home Office and think-tank Centre For Cities.
Starting at 8am for registration, delegates will be welcomed by the Leader of the Council, Councillor Tony Newman, and cabinet member for economy and jobs, Councillor Manju Shahul-Hameed.
The event will also include advice stalls from members of Croydon Business Network, including the London Chamber of Commerce, Federation of Small Businesses, LEAP and the council’s Croydon Works apprenticeship scheme.
“Croydon is open to everyone, and this event will showcase the incredible business opportunities in this borough. I’m especially keen on welcoming EU citizens who want help to continue living and working in Croydon after the Brexit transition phase.”
Councillor Tony Newman, leader of the council
“Whether your interests are in a mini-market or the stock market, this event is for local people so they can enjoy post-Brexit business success, and I look forward to seeing them at Fairfield Halls.”
Councillor Manju Shahul-Hameed, cabinet member for economy and jobs
